CHEMOTHERAPY
Chemotherapy is the use of anticancer drugs designed to interfere with and halt the growth of rapidly dividing cancer cells. These drugs are administered through an IV or in the form of pills. Your individualized treatment may include the placement of a central port to make IV administration easier for you. Central ports help to improve your quality of life during treatment by reducing damage to your veins caused by repeated needle sticks for chemotherapy administration and blood draws.
Chemotherapy often conjures up thoughts of difficult side effects; however, at Desert Springs Cancer Care, we integrate anti-nausea medications and chemotherapy delivery methods into your personalized treatment to minimize these side effects and make your breast cancer care as comfortable as we can. Some common side effects of chemotherapy include fatigue, nausea, hair loss and the suppression of your immune system. The physicians at Desert Springs Cancer Care welcome your questions and input throughout your treatment. We support alternative therapies, such as naturopathic medicine and nutrition. We encourage you to allow us to be a part of your treatment team.
